When the target is the least likely to be on guard and have a way to get an opening in on acting upon the target. When the following happens when; 1. Your opponent fails to act. 2. Swimming 3. Consuming items 4. Opening/closing doors 5. Trying to focus on casting concentration based magic 6. Tinkering When your open to be acted upon gives the actor an advantage against the unaware target. The advantage you a +1 to your rolls against the said target. That calming magic can be used to bring down the guard of the person in question.

Higher Advantage

Every 5 ft of higher terrain versus another target in an open field or just any open environment in general you gain a +1 to your rolls as a benefit against a said target so long as you can see them within your line of sight. If targeting an area gives you a larger advantage in targeting the said area. When trying to target someone every 5 ft higher you get a -1 to your rolls for trying to hit the target, the 5 ft higher being outside of your actions normal range/reach; weapons with a larger range and or reach ignore this penalty until it's outside the item's performance.

Check roll system

When it comes to checking rolls, you have challenges to overcome. The larger the challenge rating, the more likely the failure is to be punishing. For check rolls, you roll a D20; if a challenge rating a CR is above 20, you have to roll a successful first roll of a D20 to roll the other 20 to add to your roll. A natural 20 auto beats challenges of 20 or lower. Here is the scaling of the challenges 1 -  5 CR - Half awake running across the forest CR 6 - 10 - Trying to scale a wall CR 11 - 15 - Trying to climb a tree CR 16 - 20 - Trying to climb a dragon CR 21+ - Trying to climb a dragon with one arm and most of your body broken This isn't law, but it should be important to set out a standard as to what is considered for the difficulty scaling for the rolls. It's important to lay the groundwork.

Languages and the rules of language

Languages are a bit more complex; you have simple, slang, and advance. Slang is simple stuff used across multiple races and less formal versus the simple which is the basics of the language where you need some knowledge while advance is the complete mastery over the language, not all the languages made equal in order to learn for your ability to use them and or interact with one another, otherwise, you'll have to stumble your way through the given language.     The higher your mind score the more languages you can know at the beginning. These languages for these different races are given far and different forms for how they're formed and take shape.     A language barrier can be broken with body language and those who have high enough charm you're able to figure out what a person is saying through their body language. That with a high enough mind score you can figure out the rules of the language and stumble your way through understanding someone verbally. ...

Different nations (V1.0.0)

These are called the starter nations, the ones who started things and got the ball rolling. They can be used or ignored, but generally speaking, they're the nations that shaped Mari, the place this takes place on. That again a little backstory to the before times and so these are what were the originally shaped nations of the big contenders as of what was happening within the world. Soulven  - soulven were focused around advancements; those who scored the highest were made into leaders and made to run things. They developed advancements by using slaves as test subjects and did their best research by testing things are creatures alive or dead; ethics are thrown out the window for the sake of advancement because the most cutthroat competitors and smartest ones survived the brutal onslaught of the horde. This nation also did the best research into magic. Now not to say this is the only thing they have going for them; they devised a shaping of democracy, they still believed in th...

How to Build encounters

Encounters should be built based on the team dynamic. What do I mean? Let's say your players have many defenders, high AC characters they're playing, but they're low on HP for their builds but make up for it with a high amount of damage. If you want to make a challenge, throw high-accuracy monsters at them as such or very quick high damage fighters. If you want it to be easy for them, throw something at them they're able to deal with.     The truth is there is never going to be a one size fits all approach. You need to learn how to dynamically build your encounters; otherwise, you won't have effective, interesting encounters. Not all classes are made equal, and that is why combat is design the way it is. GMs and DMs, if you desire to create a good challenge, then think through what you're putting together; otherwise, the players will just beat it. On the other hand, you can't always do this and have already pre-built combat encounters or running a modu...
