Check roll system
When it comes to checking rolls, you have challenges to overcome. The larger the challenge rating, the more likely the failure is to be punishing.
For check rolls, you roll a D20; if a challenge rating a CR is above 20, you have to roll a successful first roll of a D20 to roll the other 20 to add to your roll. A natural 20 auto beats challenges of 20 or lower.
Here is the scaling of the challenges
1 - 5 CR - Half awake running across the forest
CR 6 - 10 - Trying to scale a wall
CR 11 - 15 - Trying to climb a tree
CR 16 - 20 - Trying to climb a dragon
CR 21+ - Trying to climb a dragon with one arm and most of your body broken
This isn't law, but it should be important to set out a standard as to what is considered for the difficulty scaling for the rolls. It's important to lay the groundwork.
